Supported by rising oil output and prices, Kazakhstan’s economy grew at an average of 8% per year until 2013, before suffering a slowdown in 2014 and 2015. Kazakhstan was the first former Soviet Republic to repay all of its debt to the International Monetary Fund, 7 years ahead of schedule.

Founded in 1954, Kazakh Medical University of Continuing Education is a higher education institution located in the large city of Almaty
Kazakh Medical University of Continuing Education (KazMUNO) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study.
In the first 10 years, 1,864 doctors were trained at the institute. Most of the cadets were at the department of phthisiology (with courses of osteo-articular, pediatric tuberculosis and phthisiosurgery) – 1,411 cadets, then – pediatrics with a course of pediatric neuropathology – 1,398 cadets, social hygiene and health organization – 1,275 cadets and further.
Over two decades of the Institute’s activities, over 43 thousand doctors and pharmacists have been trained, including 82% of students from Kazakhstan, 18% from other USSR republics, including Ukraine, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. About 1/3 of the trained specialists were from rural precinct, district hospitals, medical ambulance stations.
Today, the main direction of the development of the institute is the expansion of educational and scientific activities through equal international cooperation with the world’s largest leaders in the health care system.
